When I spoke at the back to school nights I talked about my main focus being to create a “Culture of Philanthropy” within the VCS community. I read an article recently by CommunityFunded.com about that very process, and it is a process not an endpoint. The article included a great cartoon that is attached, and it showed the timeline of creating a culture of philanthropy, and Day 1 showed a small group of people sitting around a table in a lifeless room saying, “We can do this!” The second picture showed Year 2, and a larger group of people in what I would call an energized room with big posters of the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization on the walls saying, “We are doing this!” Fast forward to Year 5, and there is a picture of the whole community together at big event and everyone is saying, “WE ALL DO THIS!” The final picture of the cartoon in Year 10 shows a picture of the world with the organization’s logo in the middle of the United States with lines going to all corners of the globe with the caption saying, “THIS IS WHO WE ARE!” That is our goal for VCS. To create an energy, and a culture that says WE WILL BE A LEADER in educating young people, and educating the Christian leaders of tomorrow!

In the coming months, I want to begin educating our community about the value of Endowment giving to VCS. If you know what an endowment is I want to involve you in the process of growing the endowment for VCS. If you’re not familiar with what an endowment is, I want to educate you on how your giving today can strengthen Valley Christian School for perpetuity! More to come on that…

Keep praying for Valley Christian School, keep giving, and THINK BIG!
